![]() In the back row, the doctor can already do something about. Sadly, as terrible as Emboldening Vapors is, it still occasionally sees use just because a fraction of another class’s attack is often more damage than anything the Plague Doc could do.ĭisorienting Blast: Indescribably bad. The speed bonus is nice for getting another character’s attacks out faster… but again, if you’re using a stronger class you could just, you know, attack immediately. Even if combat lasts the full 4 rounds, this adds up to barely more than a single regular attack from a stronger class. When the back row has collapsed and there’s not enough time left in the battle for the Plague Doctor’s slow damage to add up to anything worthwhile, you’ve got plenty of time to patch up any bleeds/blights that the party has accumulated, saving you tons of heath in the long run.Įmboldening Vapors: Bad to borderline. It’s not worth taking a Plague Doctor just for this but it’s damn handy. If you’re doing anything except pure support this is basically mandatory.īattlefield Medicine: Solid. With bleed damage it does almost usable damage and can put a small dent in even if resisted, plus it’s your only attack if you get shuffled into the front and your only way of dealing damage to blight-resistant enemies. Unfortunately this is about as good as it gets for the Plague Doctor’s direct attack options. Throw in a couple stun trinkets (and the doc has a good one) and you can easily stunlock enemies and even some bosses. AOE stuns are great, and being able to shut down the back row is particularly great-the enemies back there are generally more dangerous and harder to reach, so being able to keep them out of commission while your damage dealers work their way back is fantastic. The Plague Doctor’s bread and butter and the main reason to have one around. ![]() It still suffers from difficulty getting targets lined up, even with corpses to hold the line.īlinding Gas: Solid. Now that Noxious Blast has been nerfed and can’t do direct damage, Plague Grenade is almost fully twice as good-which is still okayish at best. Add in terrible range and it’s tough to justify its spot in a build these days. Dealing some damage + strong DOT is ok, dealing virtually no damage + strong DOT is laughable. This used to be a serviceable attack, but then it got hit with a nerf hammer for no reason whatsoever. She also has a problem in that many of her support skills and DOTs are best used early in the fight, so she winds up having more options than she can use round 1 but as the fight goes on she has less and less to do-if there’s no bleeds/blights to patch up she often winds up just twiddling her thumbs. She’s pretty much a dedicated support character at this point, and to be fair she has some really, really strong support abilities… but with her attacks being inexplicably nerfed she has a harder time than ever contributing directly. It's a really fun class and I enjoy using it, but it's still distinctly lackluster. I’ve got a love/hate relationship with the Plague Doc.
